A short course on all the basics from paycheck to pensions etc and also self assessment for those the system is failing to verify despite putting in all the right details & even calling, emailing and writing to them (HMRC).
Great article Abigail, thanks for the insights! I think a short online course to learn the basics of personal finance is a great idea - would love to read more about how council tax works in the UK.
Hi Abigail. I would love a course on payslips and how to read, especially when shares are part of the employment package. Also, any investing help would be appreciated.
I’d love the idea of a short online course! I think you have called out a lot in terms of mortgages etc, one thing I’d love to see explained more is tax from a PAYE perspective - we can check our tax code for the allowance but otherwise tax just ‘happens’ without understanding how much income, NI, Student Loan etc should be taken (I think this is because we never properly “see” it in the way self assessment people do) and therefore if there’s a better way to manage our finances, or if we’re missing any reliefs/allowances

Nice read Abigal. Youth unemployment is through the roof at the moment. And really interesting read on the gender pay gaps.
