There's also nothing to stop you using part of your own ISA allowance and mentally dedicating that to your child. Many adults don't have ISAs nevermind you the full allowance! Means they don't automatically get access at 18 - some heartbreaking stories of parents sacrificing throughout their working life to set aside for their children only from them to burn it on a fancy car or partying. It's easy to think that won't be my child but keeping funds in your name until you choose to gift them can protect you both from the possible poor impulses and decision-making of a young adult.
